Description

Here’s the thing about gears on a commuter bike — most people don’t want to think about them. They want to pull away from traffic lights cleanly, not fumble for the right gear on a junction. They want to tackle that hill near the office without stalling mid-climb because they left it in the wrong ratio. The ADO Air 20 Pro and Ultra solve this completely by removing the decision altogether.

The automatic gear hub adjusts itself based on your speed, cadence and incline — continuously, invisibly, without any input from you. The Pro runs a 2-speed automatic, which handles the vast majority of urban commuting conditions with ease. The Ultra upgrades to a 3-speed automatic for riders on hillier routes who want a wider gear range without ever touching a shifter.

Eco and Sport — two ride personalities, one button

Switch between Eco mode for efficient, range-maximising commuting and Sport mode when you need more responsive assistance — on a headwind, a steep incline, or just when you’re running late. The torque sensor keeps the power feeling natural in both modes, responding to how hard you’re pedalling rather than just detecting rotation.

Carbon belt drive — the maintenance-free commuter’s best friend

No chain on the Air 20 Pro/Ultra means no oil, no grease, no rust, and nothing to adjust. The carbon belt drive runs silently and lasts thousands of miles. Combined with a removable Samsung battery, adjustable front suspension and hydraulic disc brakes — this is a folding electric bike built around the reality of year-round commuting in the UK.

At 21 kg (Pro) and 22 kg (Ultra), it’s a touch heavier than the base Air 20 due to the automatic hub. For most riders, that’s a very fair trade for never having to think about gears again.

Key Features

Automatic Hub Gearing — Pro (2-speed) / Ultra (3-speed) — Shifts itself based on speed, incline and cadence. No levers, no learning curve. The Pro covers everyday commuting; the Ultra adds range for hillier terrain.

Eco & Sport Dual Assist Modes — Eco for efficient range on longer rides; Sport for more responsive power when conditions demand it. The torque sensor keeps delivery smooth and proportional in both modes.

Carbon Belt Drive — Silent, maintenance-free running with no oil, no rust, and no chain mess. Long-lasting and ideal for riders who want a bike that’s clean to commute with.

Adjustable Front Fork Suspension — Cushions uneven surfaces, bumps and potholed cycle paths. A genuine comfort upgrade over rigid-fork commuters.

Lightweight Folding Frame — 21/22 kg — Folds for flat, office or train storage. Easy to carry, practical to live with, and built for multi-modal commuting in UK cities.

FAQs

What accessories come included with the Air 20 Pro and Air 20 Ultra?

Good news if you’ve been wondering about this — both the Air 20 Pro and Air 20 Ultra come with three accessories included straight out of the box: mudguards, a rear rack, and a water bottle. The mudguards and rear rack are two of the most common add-ons people ask about, so it’s worth knowing you won’t need to source them separately. Everything you need to get up and running from day one is already in the box.

Do the Air 20 Pro and Air 20 Ultra support installing a throttle?

They don’t, and that’s not an oversight — it’s by design. To keep both bikes fully road-legal here in the UK, throttle installation isn’t supported on either model. Ride them as intended and you’re compliant from day one, no modifications needed.

What are the differences between the Air 20 Pro|Ultra and the Air 20?

The standard Air 20 is a brilliant everyday folding e-bike — but the Pro and Ultra take things noticeably further, and it’s worth understanding where the money goes. Both upgraded models run a Bafang motor, which brings sharper efficiency and considerably better climbing ability than the standard version. The Pro uses Bafang’s built-in two-speed automatic shifting motor; the Ultra steps that up to a three-speed automatic. If your commute or weekend rides take in anything hilly or varied, that difference is one you’ll feel every time.

Beyond the motor, both the Pro and Ultra come with an automatic transmission that makes for a smoother, more relaxed ride — particularly useful in stop-start city traffic where you’d otherwise be fiddling with gears at every junction. A lockable suspension fork lets you dial the ride in depending on whether you’re on smooth tarmac or something a bit less forgiving, and aluminium mudguards keep things dry and protected in the kind of weather we all know too well. These aren’t just spec sheet additions — each one makes a real difference to daily use.

How to choose between the Air 20 Pro and Air 20 Ultra?

I’d put it this way: if you’re mainly commuting — city streets, bike lanes, the occasional hill — the Pro is the sweet spot. It’s 21kg, runs a Bafang dual-speed motor, and handles the vast majority of everyday riding conditions with ease. It’s very good value for what it delivers.

If you want to push it further — more varied terrain, steeper climbs, a more refined ride overall — the Ultra is worth the extra. It’s a kilogram heavier at 22kg, steps up to a Bafang tri-speed motor for noticeably stronger performance, and upgrades to a hydraulically adjustable suspension fork which gives you far more control over how the bike handles depending on what’s under your wheels. If you want the best the Air 20 range has to offer, the Ultra is it.

Electric Bike UK Laws

There are a few regulations surrounding electric bikes in the UK so we thought we would provide you with a summary of those below:

You must be aged 14 or over in the UK to ride an electric bike.

You do not need tax, insurance or a driving license to ride an electric bike.

To be classified as an electrically assisted pedal cycle (EAPC) in the UK, an electric bike must fulfil a certain set of criteria, including:

  • Pedals - The electric bike must have pedals capable of propelling it, and motor assistance should only be provided when the pedals are moving.
  • Motor - The motor’s power output must be no more than 250 watts (W).
  • Speed - The motor should not be able to propel the e-bike when it’s travelling faster than 15.5mph.

Please note that if your electric bike does not meet the above 3 points, then you cannot ride on public roads. Some of our bikes exceed the 250W limit, so these are only to be used on private land with the landowner's permission.

It is the responsibility of the rider to wear protective clothing, however this is not a legal requirement.
