Cycle to Work

The Cycle to Work scheme is one of the smartest ways to spread the cost of an electric bike. The price gets split across tax-free monthly instalments through your employer's payroll – and depending on your tax bracket, you could save anywhere from 30% to 47% on a new e-bike.

I'll be honest with you – it's one of the most common questions we get asked, and the process is simpler than most people expect.

How does it work?

  1. Check which scheme your employer uses. If they're not signed up yet, most providers make it straightforward for employers to join – we're happy to help point them in the right direction.
  2. Choose your e-bike. Browse our range and request a quote from us for your chosen bike. If you need help picking the right bike, drop us a message – that's genuinely what we're here for.
  3. Request your certificate or voucher through your scheme provider for the quoted amount, then send your certificate over to us to place your order.

A note on Cycle to Work pricing

Here's the thing – most Cycle to Work providers charge retailers a commission on every sale. These fees vary quite a bit depending on the provider, and on higher-value items like electric bikes, they can be significant.

To keep offering a good range of e-bikes through the scheme, we apply a small admin fee on orders placed through some of our Cycle to Work providers. The exact amount depends on the provider and the bike, and we'll always confirm this with you upfront when we send your quote – no surprises.

Please note: Promotional or sale discounts do not apply to Cycle to Work purchases.

If you'd like a quote for a specific bike through your scheme, just get in touch and we'll give you the full breakdown before you commit to anything.

FAQs

How much can I save?

It depends on your tax bracket. Basic-rate taxpayers typically save around 32%, while higher-rate taxpayers can save up to 47%. The saving comes from paying for the bike before tax and national insurance are deducted from your salary.

Is there a spending limit?

That depends on your provider. Some schemes have caps – for example, Cyclescheme has a £3,000 limit – while others like Green Commute Initiative have no spend limit at all. It's worth checking with your employer or provider.

What if my employer isn't signed up to a scheme?

Most providers make it easy for employers to register. We can point your employer in the right direction if they're interested – it costs them nothing to join and they actually save on employer's National Insurance contributions too.

Why is there an admin fee on some providers?

Most Cycle to Work providers charge retailers a commission on every sale processed through their platform. These fees vary by provider and can be substantial on higher-value items like electric bikes. Our admin fee helps cover these costs so we can continue to offer a wide range of e-bikes through the scheme. We'll always tell you the exact amount before you go ahead.

Can I add accessories to my order?

Yes – most schemes allow you to include cycling accessories and safety equipment alongside your bike. Helmets, locks, lights, and other cycling essentials can usually be added to the same certificate.

How long does the process take?

Once your employer has approved your application and you've received your certificate or voucher, we can usually get your bike dispatched within a few working days. The approval process itself varies by employer – some take a couple of days, others a couple of weeks.
