Description

The Dawes Scenic is the perfect choice for the daily commuter who also likes to savour the scenery on a rural ride as well. It has a 375wh battery installed that provides you with up to 40 miles of electrical assistance. The battery can also be charged either on the bike or removed using the provided keys. The key lock also provides you with peace of mind as it gives you extra security when you park it in public.

Another one of its electrical components is the Bafang rear hub motor system which powers the bike and provides 32nm of torque, allowing you to get from point A to B rapidly. You have the option of 5 different levels of assistance, so can choose one to match your environment. You switch between these levels using the handlebar display which also shows you other important information such as your speed and battery level. For added convenience, there is also a walk-assist option that comes in handy when encountering steep inclines.

Rotate between gears effortlessly with the 1x7 speed Shimano Altus gear components, which also come with a trigger shifter for simple shifting and easy-care cable disc brakes for decisive braking even in the poorest of conditions. With the puncture-resistant tyres, you will have no anxiety cycling over bumpy terrain and you also have ergonomically shaped lock-on grips and a soft Selle Royal Freeway saddle for added comfort.

Some of its other practical features include the pannier rack and full-length mudguards which are designed to keep your bike as squeaky clean as possible. There is also a kickstand which will be helpful when you complete your journey. Available in two sizes, we recommend Small for riders who are 5'0" to 5'6" (152cm to 168cm) and Medium for riders who are 5'6" to 5'11" (168cm to 181cm).

Electric Bike UK Laws

There are a few regulations surrounding electric bikes in the UK so we thought we would provide you with a summary of those below:

You must be aged 14 or over in the UK to ride an electric bike.

You do not need tax, insurance or a driving license to ride an electric bike.

To be classified as an electrically assisted pedal cycle (EAPC) in the UK, an electric bike must fulfil a certain set of criteria, including:

Pedals - The electric bike must have pedals capable of propelling it, and motor assistance should only be provided when the pedals are moving.
Motor - The motor’s power output must be no more than 250 watts (W).
Speed - The motor should not be able to propel the e-bike when it’s travelling faster than 15.5mph.

Please note that if your electric bike does not meet the above 3 points, then you cannot ride on public roads. Some of our bikes exceed the 250W limit, so these are only to be used on private land with the landowner's permission.

It is the responsibility of the rider to wear protective clothing, however this is not a legal requirement.
