Description

I'll be honest with you — most electric mountain bikes in this price bracket make a lot of promises on paper and then feel distinctly average the moment you push them into anything resembling a real-world route. The Claud Butler Wrath 2.0 is not that bike.

This is the best-selling Wrath, refreshed and upgraded in all the right places. It's fitted with the latest Shimano Cues 1x10 speed gearing and a wide-range 11-48T cassette — which, in practical terms, means you've got a gear for every gradient you're likely to encounter on UK trails and forest paths, from a gentle towpath roll to a proper lung-burning climb. The Shimano MT200 hydraulic disc brakes give you the stopping confidence you need when coming off a descent on wet or loose ground, which, British weather being what it is, is rather important.

Power and range that work in the real world

The seamlessly integrated 540Wh battery is where the Wrath 2.0 earns its credibility on longer rides. Up to 60 miles of assisted range on a single charge is genuinely useful — enough for a full weekend trail day, or several weeks of mixed daily commutes without reaching for the charger every evening. The battery comes out with the supplied key, so you can charge it on or off the bike — at home, at the office, or wherever is convenient. There's also a security lock to keep things in order if you're leaving the bike locked up.

The Bafang rear hub motor delivers 45Nm of torque — enough to make hills feel significantly less punishing, and enough to give that satisfying surge off the line that the updated e-bike software now enhances with a larger boost from a static start. You can rotate between 5 power assist modes using the handlebar LCD display, which also shows speed, average speed, max speed, trip data, and battery level at a glance. There's a walk assist mode too — a small detail, but genuinely appreciated when you're pushing the bike up a steep incline after a long ride.

Built for mixed surfaces and real riding conditions

The 29×2.40" CST Patrol tyres with their distinctive tan wall finish are wide enough to grip confidently on mud, gravel, and mixed trail surfaces without feeling sluggish on tarmac — the kind of tyre that earns its place on a proper all-rounder. Paired with a 29" suspension fork with hydraulic lockout and 100mm travel, the Wrath 2.0 absorbs the kind of rough ground that would shake a lesser bike into submission. The Selle Royal saddle and lock-on grips complete the picture: a bike that's actually comfortable to ride for a full afternoon, not just the first fifteen minutes.

If you're looking for a capable, well-specified 250W electric mountain bike that handles UK trails with genuine confidence and gives you the range to make a proper day of it, the Wrath 2.0 is worth serious consideration.

Key Features

Shimano Cues 1x10 Speed Gearing — 11-48T Cassette
A wide, versatile range that handles everything from steep UK trail climbs to flat road sections. No front derailleur, no fuss — just clean, reliable shifting across ten gears.

Shimano MT200 Hydraulic Disc Brakes
180mm rotor up front, 160mm at the rear. Consistent, progressive stopping power in wet or dry conditions. Exactly the kind of brakes you want when you're heading downhill on a muddy forest track.

Bafang Rear Hub Motor — 250W / 45Nm Torque
Smooth, predictable power that makes hills manageable without making the ride feel artificial. Updated software gives a more responsive boost from a standstill — a noticeable improvement in stop-start riding.

Integrated 540Wh Battery — Up to 60 Miles Range
Removable with a key for charging on or off the bike. Samsung cells inside. Built-in security lock for peace of mind when parked up in public. Charges from flat in 6 hours.

29×2.40" CST Patrol Tyres — Tan Wall
Wide enough for confident grip on loose and mixed surfaces, while the tan wall finish adds a distinctive look. A tyre that earns its keep across the seasons.

29" Suspension Fork — 100mm Travel, Hydraulic Lockout
Absorbs trail chop and rough ground effectively. Lock out on smooth tarmac to save energy; open it back up when the surface deteriorates.

Handlebar LCD Display — 5 Assist Modes + Walk Assist
Clear, at-a-glance ride data including speed, battery, trip time, and odometer. Walk assist mode engages the motor gently for easier uphill pushing.

Selle Royal Saddle + Lock-On Grips
Comfort details that matter on longer rides. The kind of components that make the difference between enjoying a four-hour trail day and enduring one.

6061 Aluminium Frame — Internal Cable Routing
Clean, snag-free aesthetics and a frame that's stiff where it matters. Available in Medium (17") and Large (19").

Electric Bike UK Laws

There are a few regulations surrounding electric bikes in the UK so we thought we would provide you with a summary of those below:

You must be aged 14 or over in the UK to ride an electric bike.

You do not need tax, insurance or a driving license to ride an electric bike.

To be classified as an electrically assisted pedal cycle (EAPC) in the UK, an electric bike must fulfil a certain set of criteria, including:

  • Pedals - The electric bike must have pedals capable of propelling it, and motor assistance should only be provided when the pedals are moving.
  • Motor - The motor’s power output must be no more than 250 watts (W).
  • Speed - The motor should not be able to propel the e-bike when it’s travelling faster than 15.5mph.

Please note that if your electric bike does not meet the above 3 points, then you cannot ride on public roads. Some of our bikes exceed the 250W limit, so these are only to be used on private land with the landowner's permission.

It is the responsibility of the rider to wear protective clothing, however this is not a legal requirement.
