There's a particular kind of rider the Malvern was built for. Someone who commutes by bike during the week but wants to head out on a proper leisure ride at the weekend. Someone whose route isn't just flat tarmac — there might be a towpath section, a gravel stretch, a hill or two that would otherwise rule out a lighter road bike. If that sounds familiar, the Dallingridge Malvern is worth a proper look.
The 250W rear hub motor is neatly integrated into the rear wheel and draws from a 14Ah 36V battery that's built directly into the tough alloy crossbar frame — no external battery pack, no awkward protrusion. On a full charge, you're looking at a genuine 35–50 mile range, which covers most day-ride distances with enough headroom that you're not watching the battery indicator every few minutes.
What sets the Malvern apart in the hybrid trekking electric bike category is the tyre choice. Gumwall tyres offer noticeably lower rolling resistance than standard commuter rubber — they feel quicker and smoother across varied surfaces, from tarmac to packed trail. Combined with the 63mm Suntour suspension fork, the ride quality on mixed terrain is genuinely comfortable rather than just passable.
The Zoom MTB handlebars put you in a natural, upright position that works equally well for relaxed weekend rides and more focused commuting. Mechanical disc brakes front and rear handle wet weather reliably — and given that British roads are damp for a good chunk of the year, that's not a minor consideration.
Practically speaking, the Malvern is well-equipped. Front and rear mudguards keep the Silver Camel frame clean in messy conditions, and the rear luggage rack means you're not forced to carry a backpack every time you head out — panniers or a bungee-strapped bag will do the job. A kickstand rounds things off for convenient parking wherever you end up.
Right — if you're after a trekking e-bike that's versatile enough to be genuinely useful every day and enjoyable enough to take out for the pleasure of it at the weekend, the Malvern makes a compelling case for itself.
250W Rear Hub Motor — Smooth, EAPC-compliant pedal assistance with power assistance up to 15.5mph. The rear hub placement provides a natural, forward-driving feel that suits mixed-terrain riding. No licence, tax, or insurance required under UK EAPC regulations.
14Ah 36V Frame-Integrated Battery — Up to 50 miles of assisted range on a full charge. Integrated cleanly into the crossbar frame for a balanced, tidy appearance — and detachable when you need to charge it somewhere convenient rather than wheeling the whole bike to a socket.
Gumwall Tyres with Lower Rolling Resistance — A meaningful upgrade over standard commuter tyres. Gumwall rubber rolls more freely across varied surfaces, making the Malvern feel quicker and more effortless — particularly noticeable on longer rides where that efficiency adds up.
63mm Suntour Suspension Fork — 63mm of travel takes the edge off uneven terrain without making the bike feel sluggish on smooth tarmac. A well-judged compromise between comfort and efficiency for a hybrid trekking ride.
700c Trekking Wheels — Larger diameter wheels roll over obstacles more smoothly and maintain momentum better than smaller alternatives. A natural choice for a bike designed to cover varied ground comfortably.
Mechanical Disc Brakes (Front & Rear) — Reliable stopping power in wet, muddy, and mixed conditions. Disc brakes hold their performance where rim brakes start to fade — a practical advantage for year-round UK riding.
Zoom MTB Handlebars — Wide, stable bar positioning gives confident handling on rougher surfaces and a comfortable upright riding posture for both commuting and leisure use.
Rear Luggage Rack Included — Carry what you need without wearing it on your back. The rack accommodates panniers or strapped luggage, making the Malvern genuinely practical for shopping, commuting, or day trips.
Free Add-ons Included — Front and rear mudguards, kickstand, and rear luggage rack come as standard.

There are a few regulations surrounding electric bikes in the UK so we thought we would provide you with a summary of those below:
You must be aged 14 or over in the UK to ride an electric bike.
You do not need tax, insurance or a driving license to ride an electric bike.
To be classified as an electrically assisted pedal cycle (EAPC) in the UK, an electric bike must fulfil a certain set of criteria, including:
- Pedals - The electric bike must have pedals capable of propelling it, and motor assistance should only be provided when the pedals are moving.
- Motor - The motor’s power output must be no more than 250 watts (W).
- Speed - The motor should not be able to propel the e-bike when it’s travelling faster than 15.5mph.
Please note that if your electric bike does not meet the above 3 points, then you cannot ride on public roads. Some of our bikes exceed the 250W limit, so these are only to be used on private land with the landowner's permission.
It is the responsibility of the rider to wear protective clothing, however this is not a legal requirement.
