Due to the UK's law, you are not allowed to use e-bikes with throttles turned on on the roads. This means that most road-legal electric bikes come without throttles, so with Aries, E-Movement found a valuable fix: a digitally dis-connectable throttle. With this, you can easily disable it using the display for your daily commuting and then for your off-road trips you can simply adjust it.

A long-lasting 14 Ah Integrated Battery allows you to cycle for extended journeys with continuous battery longevity. This combined with the 48V 250W/500W Rear Hub Brushless Motor gives you both smooth running and better handling whilst also obtaining improved traction.

26-inch Fat Tyres gives you a sturdy feel when pedalling, and also enhances the versatility of your rides due to it enabling you to glide over any surface with ease. Improved agility and Maneuverability are also big advantages of the wider tyres, which will absorb the shocks and vibrations from rugged terrain which ultimately leads to a more relaxing ride for you.

Electric Bike UK Laws

There are a few regulations surrounding electric bikes in the UK so we thought we would provide you with a summary of those below:

You must be aged 14 or over in the UK to ride an electric bike.

You do not need tax, insurance or a driving license to ride an electric bike.

To be classified as an electrically assisted pedal cycle (EAPC) in the UK, an electric bike must fulfil a certain set of criteria, including:

Pedals - The electric bike must have pedals capable of propelling it, and motor assistance should only be provided when the pedals are moving.
Motor - The motor’s power output must be no more than 250 watts (W).
Speed - The motor should not be able to propel the e-bike when it’s travelling faster than 15.5mph.

Please note that if your electric bike does not meet the above 3 points, then you cannot ride on public roads. Some of our bikes exceed the 250W limit, so these are only to be used on private land with the landowner's permission.

It is the responsibility of the rider to wear protective clothing, however this is not a legal requirement.
