Description

Right, let's be honest about what kind of rider the ENGWE M20 is built for. If your riding sticks to smooth cycle paths and quiet suburban roads, there are better-suited options in the range. But if you want a fat tyre off-road electric bike that can genuinely handle the kind of terrain most e-bikes politely avoid — forest tracks, gravel trails, rough bridleways, surfaces that change without warning — the M20 is built for exactly that.

The motorcycle-inspired frame isn't just a styling choice — it signals the kind of riding this bike is designed for. Bold, confidence-inspiring, and built to absorb punishment without losing composure. The 20×4" fat tyres give you grip on surfaces where narrower tyres would slide or bounce, and the torque-responsive power delivery means the motor works with the terrain rather than fighting it.

Dual-battery capability — range that keeps up with adventure

One of the M20's most practical features is its dual-battery capability. For riders planning longer off-road sessions — where charging stops are rare and distances can mount up — the option to extend your range by adding a second battery means you're not constantly calculating how far you can go before turning back. Ride longer, plan less.

55 Nm torque, rear hub motor

The rear hub motor delivers 55 Nm of torque — enough for inclines, soft ground, and the kind of mixed off-road terrain the M20 is designed for. Combined with the fat tyre grip, it makes short work of the surfaces that stop lighter bikes cold.

ATTENTION: This E-bike does not fully comply with the current EAPC requirements for UK road use. Please refer to the DVSA legislation which can be found here before purchasing.

The M20 is intended for off-road and private land use. If adventure riding is your goal and you have the terrain to put it through its paces, this is a serious machine.

Key Features

Dual-Battery Capability — Extend your range significantly for longer off-road sessions. Designed for riders who want to ride further without planning around charging stops.

20×4" Fat Tyres — Grip, stability, and cushioning across gravel, mud, forest trails, and mixed off-road terrain. A wider contact patch means more confidence on surfaces that would unsettle a standard e-bike.

Torque-Responsive Rear Hub Motor — 55 Nm — Smooth, proportional power delivery that works with the terrain. Capable on inclines and loose surfaces without feeling aggressive or unpredictable.

Motorcycle-Inspired Frame Geometry — Built for stability and confidence on rough terrain. The frame geometry reflects the kind of riding the M20 is designed for — not just visually, but in how the bike handles under load and on variable surfaces.

48V 13Ah Battery (Single) — Substantial base capacity, with dual-battery capability available for extended range. At 34.8 kg, this is a solid, purposeful machine — not a lightweight commuter.

Electric Bike UK Laws

There are a few regulations surrounding electric bikes in the UK so we thought we would provide you with a summary of those below:

You must be aged 14 or over in the UK to ride an electric bike.

You do not need tax, insurance or a driving license to ride an electric bike.

To be classified as an electrically assisted pedal cycle (EAPC) in the UK, an electric bike must fulfil a certain set of criteria, including:

  • Pedals - The electric bike must have pedals capable of propelling it, and motor assistance should only be provided when the pedals are moving.
  • Motor - The motor’s power output must be no more than 250 watts (W).
  • Speed - The motor should not be able to propel the e-bike when it’s travelling faster than 15.5mph.

Please note that if your electric bike does not meet the above 3 points, then you cannot ride on public roads. Some of our bikes exceed the 250W limit, so these are only to be used on private land with the landowner's permission.

It is the responsibility of the rider to wear protective clothing, however this is not a legal requirement.
