Description

Some riders want an e-bike for the commute or the weekend spin on a flat canal towpath. Others want something that handles the kind of terrain where a regular folding bike would simply struggle — forest tracks, gravel bridleways, rocky descents, the kind of riding where confidence in your equipment actually matters.

The ENGWE Engine Pro 2.0 is built for the latter. This is an off-road folding electric bike with a high-torque motor, full suspension system, and 20×4" fat tyres — the kind of setup that makes rough terrain feel manageable rather than intimidating.

Full suspension that earns its keep

The combination of front hydraulic suspension and rear shock absorption works together to keep the wheels in contact with the ground and your body comfortable — not just over occasional potholes, but across sustained rough riding. I've ridden fat tyre bikes with and without proper rear suspension on the same trail sections, and the difference is significant.

75 Nm torque — genuinely useful off-road power

The high-torque motor delivers 75 Nm — strong enough to pull you up steep inclines and through soft ground without the motor laboring. Combined with the fat tyre grip, the Engine Pro 2.0 eats up terrain that would stop a standard folding bike cold.

ATTENTION: This E-bike does not fully comply with the current EAPC requirements for UK road use. Please refer to the DVSA legislation which can be found here before purchasing.

The Engine Pro 2.0 is intended for off-road and private land use. If adventure riding is your priority and you have the terrain to match, this is a serious piece of kit.

Key Features

Full Suspension System — Front hydraulic fork and rear shock absorption working together. Genuinely useful on rough terrain, not just a marketing addition. Keeps the ride controlled and fatigue low across sustained off-road use.

High-Torque Motor — 75 Nm — Strong enough for steep inclines, loose surfaces, and the kind of terrain that makes lesser motors struggle. Paired with a torque sensor for smooth, proportional delivery.

20×4" Fat Tyres — Grip, stability, and cushioning across roads, gravel, mud, and mixed off-road surfaces. Wider contact patch means more confidence when the ground is unpredictable.

Folding Frame at 31.6 kg — Folds to 104×55×84 cm for transport and storage. Not the lightest folder, but the off-road capability it delivers more than justifies the trade-off.

16Ah Battery — Substantial capacity for longer off-road sessions where range matters more and charging opportunities are fewer.

Electric Bike UK Laws

There are a few regulations surrounding electric bikes in the UK so we thought we would provide you with a summary of those below:

You must be aged 14 or over in the UK to ride an electric bike.

You do not need tax, insurance or a driving license to ride an electric bike.

To be classified as an electrically assisted pedal cycle (EAPC) in the UK, an electric bike must fulfil a certain set of criteria, including:

  • Pedals - The electric bike must have pedals capable of propelling it, and motor assistance should only be provided when the pedals are moving.
  • Motor - The motor’s power output must be no more than 250 watts (W).
  • Speed - The motor should not be able to propel the e-bike when it’s travelling faster than 15.5mph.

Please note that if your electric bike does not meet the above 3 points, then you cannot ride on public roads. Some of our bikes exceed the 250W limit, so these are only to be used on private land with the landowner's permission.

It is the responsibility of the rider to wear protective clothing, however this is not a legal requirement.

Feedback on the pedal assist system and battery range is mixed, with some users experiencing an unrefined assist and a range that falls short of expectations.
