The Harlow is the bike I'd recommend to someone who wants a proper, capable e-bike — but one that's genuinely easy to get on and off without a second thought. That might be someone returning to cycling after a few years away, someone with a bit of stiffness in the hips or knees, or simply someone who commutes in normal clothes and doesn't want to be throwing a leg over a high crossbar on a busy pavement. The step-through frame solves that instantly, and on a hybrid bike at this level, it's a meaningful feature rather than a compromise.
Underneath that accessible frame design is a genuinely capable 250W rear hub motor drawing from a 14Ah 36V battery integrated into the frame. Up to 50 miles of assisted range on a full charge means you can do the commute, run errands, and still have charge left without plugging in every evening. The battery removes cleanly for charging away from the bike — useful if your storage doesn't have a convenient socket nearby.
The handlebar-mounted LCD display lets you cycle between three levels of electrical assistance depending on the terrain and how much effort you want to put in. Pair that with the Shimano 6-speed gearing and you have a sensible range of options for everything from flat urban roads to the occasional steeper stretch. Shimano gearing in this context is worth noting — it's reliable, widely serviced, and consistent in a way that lesser gear systems often aren't.
Hybrid tyres bridge the gap between road and light trail use, and the Suntour suspension fork absorbs the surface irregularities that British roads produce with impressive regularity. The 160mm mechanical disc brakes front and rear provide confident stopping force in wet conditions — not a nice-to-have in the UK, but an essential.
The Harlow also comes well-equipped out of the box. A rear luggage rack means you can carry a bag without wearing it; front and rear mudguards keep road spray off you and the frame; and a kickstand means you're not leaning it against walls and hoping for the best. As the sister model to the Malvern, it shares the same considered engineering — simply in a step-through format that widens who can ride it comfortably.
Honestly, if accessibility matters and you don't want to sacrifice any of the practical capability that makes a hybrid e-bike genuinely useful, the Harlow is a very well-balanced choice.
Step-Through Alloy Frame — The lower frame profile makes mounting and dismounting natural and effortless regardless of age, flexibility, or what you're wearing. The lower centre of gravity also improves balance, particularly useful at low speeds in traffic or when coming to a stop.
250W Rear Hub Motor — Smooth, EAPC-compliant pedal assistance up to 15.5mph. The rear hub positioning creates a balanced, natural riding feel. No licence, insurance, or registration required under UK EAPC regulations.
14Ah 36V Detachable Frame Battery — Up to 50 miles of assisted range. Integrated neatly into the frame and removable for convenient charging — no need to wheel the whole bike to a socket. Charge time 4-6 hours.
Shimano 6-Speed Gearing — Reliable, smooth-shifting gearing from one of the most trusted names in cycling. Provides a practical range for urban riding and the occasional more demanding terrain, with consistent performance in all conditions.
LCD Display with 3 Assist Levels — Handlebar-mounted and easy to read on the move. Switch between assistance levels to suit the terrain, your energy levels, or how much workout you actually want from your ride.
Suntour Suspension Fork — Absorbs bumps and surface irregularities without making the bike feel sluggish on smoother tarmac. A well-judged addition for a hybrid that's expected to cope with mixed UK surfaces.
160mm Mechanical Disc Brakes (Front & Rear) — Dependable stopping power in wet and muddy conditions. Disc brakes are meaningfully more reliable than rim brakes in the rain — an important consideration for year-round riding in the UK.
Hybrid Tyres — Designed for mixed-surface use, bridging road and light off-road riding. Confident on urban tarmac, capable on packed gravel and canal towpaths.
Rear Luggage Rack Included — Carry what you need without a backpack. Accommodates panniers or strapped luggage for commuting, shopping, and day trips.
Free Add-ons Included — Front and rear mudguards, kickstand, and rear luggage rack all come as standard.

There are a few regulations surrounding electric bikes in the UK so we thought we would provide you with a summary of those below:
You must be aged 14 or over in the UK to ride an electric bike.
You do not need tax, insurance or a driving license to ride an electric bike.
To be classified as an electrically assisted pedal cycle (EAPC) in the UK, an electric bike must fulfil a certain set of criteria, including:
- Pedals - The electric bike must have pedals capable of propelling it, and motor assistance should only be provided when the pedals are moving.
- Motor - The motor’s power output must be no more than 250 watts (W).
- Speed - The motor should not be able to propel the e-bike when it’s travelling faster than 15.5mph.
Please note that if your electric bike does not meet the above 3 points, then you cannot ride on public roads. Some of our bikes exceed the 250W limit, so these are only to be used on private land with the landowner's permission.
It is the responsibility of the rider to wear protective clothing, however this is not a legal requirement.
